I composed ''The Shovel Shuffle” as a nod to the joys of winter and particularly the pleasure of shoveling. It is dedicated to shovelers all over the world!
We recorded the video and the audio at Darke Hall in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 30, 2022 and yes... it was snowing outside!
The song features Craig Salkeld on vocals and piano, Fred Foerster on double bass, Chris Wallace on drums and myself on flute.
''The Shovel Shuffle'' has lyrics that will bring you back to your childhood memories. It is your cue to get your shovel and dance the shuffle!
A big thank you to OnReelMedia, to Keiran Semple, sound engineer, and to Daniel Paquet who took the outdoor photos in Cottonwood, Saskatchewan, in March 2022.

lyrics
Winter has come, yes it happens in our country
This is the time to ski, enjoy the holidays
Time to lace-up new skates
Play hockey with your mates
Time to get hit with snowballs in your face
Time for snow fort building
Time for snowman making
Time to share your true love feelings
But wait… wait… wait…
Wait… wait…
You’re gonna have to wait
Put your plans aside
Don’t look so mortified and just
Hustle, hustle, get your shovel
Get your shovel, it’s a snow day
Hustle, hustle, get your shovel
Time to sweep that snow away
Sometimes you wish you were born in Australia
Or in another warm place such as California
No fingers turning blue
No runny nose, no flue
No snow day stuck babysitting your sister
No winter coat to wear
No tuque flattening your hair
A bit of sunshine would be fair
But wait… wait… wait…
Wait… wait…
You’re gonna have to wait
Put your plans aside
Don’t look so mortified and just
Hustle, hustle, get your shovel
Get your shovel, it’s a snow day
Hustle, hustle, get your shovel
Time to sweep that snow away
Hustle, hustle, get your shovel
Get your shovel, it’s a snow day
Hustle, hustle, get your shovel
Time to sweep that snow away
